Press and data
For reporters, editors and researchers: what we publish, under which licence, and how to credit it.
What PickARoofer is
PickARoofer is a directory of U.S. roofing contractors. Where a contractor shows a Verified badge, we matched it to an active entry in the state licensing registry and recorded the date of that check; contractors we have not checked yet are listed without one. How the check works and what it does not cover: how verification works. How we earn money: editorial policy.
Data you can use
- Hail data feed: NOAA Storm Prediction Center preliminary local storm reports, refreshed every 10 minutes, CC BY 4.0 (JSON, CSV, RSS).
- State of Hail: NOAA hail events by state and year.
- Cities ranked by hail events and this month by city.
- How to check a roofer, state by state, with the registry and the date we last checked it.
- Free widgets for any covered city.
Keep NOAA’s caveat with the numbers: these are preliminary, unverified reports, not confirmed damage to any roof. Not an official NOAA or NWS product. Method and limits: Data & Methodology.
How to credit us
Credit PickARoofer. A link is welcome but optional; plain text is fine.
The link is optional. Use the credit line if you can, or cite us as plain text. We never require a link, and we do not make a listing, a badge or a lead depend on one.

Contact the press desk
press@pickaroofer.com. We can cut the hail data by city or county for a story, and explain how a licence check was done for a specific state.
