What to do with it

Washington requires construction contractors to register with L&I (L&I contractor page, checked October 7, 2026). Ask any roofer for the license number first, look it up on the L&I site, and match the name on the quote to the name on the license.

Questions

How do I check that a Washington roofer is licensed?

Search the firm's name or license number here for a quick look, then confirm on the official L&I lookup (https://secure.lni.wa.gov/verify/). The state site is the authority, and it is updated more often than our copy.

How current is this data?

It is a snapshot taken on October 8, 2026 from the state's open-data portal. A license can lapse, be suspended or be renewed after that date.

What if a roofer is not in the results?

The file selects firms with the specialty ROOFING. A roofer registered under another specialty, or under a different business name, will not appear. Search the state site before you decide anything.

Does a license mean the work is good?

No. A license, bond and insurance show that the firm is registered and meets the state's minimums. They do not rate workmanship. Ask for references and a written quote.

Is this legal advice?

No. It is public information shown as-is. For a dispute or a legal question, ask the state agency or a lawyer.
