HomeAdvisor and PickARoofer both connect homeowners with roofers, but they are different kinds of business. One is a national marketplace across many trades. The other is a roofing-only directory that sells each lead once. Which suits you depends on how much volume you need and how much you want to know about the price before you sign up.
About sources. We could not open HomeAdvisor's contractor pages on 2026-09-23 (our requests were refused), so nothing here describes its prices, fees or refund terms. The right-hand column of the table lists questions to put to any platform. The PickARoofer column comes from our pricing and refund pages.

Where HomeAdvisor has the advantage
It is much larger than we are. If you need a steady stream of leads this month, a national marketplace is likelier to supply it than a service that launched recently. It also covers every home-service trade, which matters if your company does more than roofing.
Where PickARoofer may fit better
- Price visibility. Our rates are on one public page. You know the cost before you create an account.
- No contract. You pay for accepted leads and nothing else, so leaving costs nothing.
- One caller per homeowner. Each request goes to one roofer, so the homeowner is not fielding calls from several companies.
A practical way to decide
Run both for a set period, say 60 days, and record what you spent and how many jobs you signed from each. Compare cost per booked job. Our roofing lead cost guide shows the arithmetic. If PickARoofer does not produce jobs in your city, you will have spent nothing on the first 3 leads and can walk away.
Frequently asked questions
Is HomeAdvisor or PickARoofer better for roofers?
It depends on what you need. HomeAdvisor is a large national marketplace. PickARoofer is a small roofing-only directory that sells each lead once. If you need volume today, a large platform has it. If you want to test exclusive leads at a published price, we are cheap to try.
Does PickARoofer publish its prices?
Yes. The founder pilot is a flat $99 per accepted lead. After it, $225 (tier 1), $175 (tier 2) or $150 (tier 3) by market. The full table is on the lead pricing page.
Where is PickARoofer weaker than HomeAdvisor?
Volume and brand recognition. We are new, we cover a limited set of cities, and we cannot promise how many leads your city will produce.
What are the refund rules at PickARoofer?
You have 7 days to request a credit for an invalid lead. Invalid means unreachable after 3 logged attempts over 48 hours, fake, a duplicate, or out of your service area. A homeowner who talks to you and hires someone else is not invalid.
Is there a trial, or do I pay from lead one?
The first 3 exclusive leads on every new account cost nothing. After that you pay per accepted lead, with no monthly charge and nothing to cancel.
